On August 2, 2018, the China Energy Storage Western Forum was held in Haidong, Qinghai. The meeting was guided by the Qinghai Provincial Government, hosted by the Haidong Municipal Government, the Yellow River Hydropower, and the Zhongguancun Management Committee, the Haidong Science and Technology Park, the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance, the China Energy Research Association Energy Storage Committee, and Beijing Nenggao.
Jiang Dong, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Song Zong, General Manager of Marketing Company, participated in the Energy Storage Western Forum.
The following is a partial summary of the meeting:
By the first half of 2017, the cumulative installed capacity of China's energy storage projects has reached 28.9 GW, of which the cumulative installed capacity of pumped storage capacity has reached 99%, and the cumulative installed capacity of China's electrochemical energy storage projects has reached 389.8 MW. The cumulative installed capacity is the largest, reaching 227MW, accounting for 58%, followed by lead storage batteries and flow batteries. On the whole, the average growth rate of energy storage is also above 40%. Among them, the western provinces and autonomous regions are the main areas for the deployment of China's energy storage projects. The six provinces and autonomous regions of Shaanxi, Gansu, Qingning and Xinzang account for 25% of the total installed capacity of the country's put into operation projects.
The main features of energy storage applications in the western region are as follows: First, the energy storage applications in the western region are concentrated in the fields of wind power stations, auxiliary services, and microgrids. Many parties are actively deploying energy storage projects in the western region. Second, the new integrated energy application model demonstration project has created opportunities for the flexible and diverse application of “renewable energy + energy storage” in the western region.
There are six general trends in the development of China's energy storage market.
The first three points are technology and industry. (1) To improve the standards of energy storage performance, testing and safety applications, (2) to establish a green recycling and reuse system for energy storage products, and (3) to clarify the energy storage grid connection process and reduce the cost of energy storage grid connection.
The last three points are about market mechanisms and policy environments. (4) Give independent recognition of the energy storage power market, (5) construct a market mechanism for power flexibility services, and (6) improve the electricity price mechanism and reflect the revenue from energy storage applications.

The compensation standards for the paid peak-adjustment market in different provinces are not the same, but the recovery investment cost cycle is long when the energy storage is simply realized. The second is the AGC FM service. The actual situation of the Northwest Power Grid has led to the current AGC investment logic of the thermal power plant to track the tie line. Mainly, it does not adopt a model similar to the calculation of the kd value of North China Power Grid. It is assessed and compensated according to the integrated power.
